As Israel’s front- line hospital undergoes extensive preparedness to cope with the absorption of casualties providing treatment during times of combat there is high concern to protect the hospital from attack.

On Monday, May 14 Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah said that the rocket attack had set the stage for “an entirely new phase.” He added that a message had been delivered to Israel via an international party that the “next bombardment would be in the heart of occupied Palestine.”

Deputy Health Minister Yaakov Litzman praised the early and comprehensive emergency preparation of the hospital’s staff.

“I was very impressed by the preparatory work being done at the Ziv Medical Center,” said Litzman, making special reference to the hospital’s readiness to treat war casualties, anxiety victims and even dormitories for children of employees.

Dr. Zarka noted that it is still necessary to protect a number of departments in the hospital and operating theaters and secure additional medical equipment and supplies to tend the needs of patients in an emergency.

While thanking the many donors in Israel and particularly in the US, Dr. Zarka expressed his hope that donations to the “Ziv’s Preparedness Emergency Fund” will increase and timely arrive to support the staff’s hospital preparedness to any contingency.
